Every year on February 4th, the world observes World Cancer Day, a day to remind us of our shared responsibility in the fight against cancer. This year’s theme, “United by Unique,” highlights how we are united in our goals and needs when it comes to cancer globally. 

Cancer is a global health challenge, but no two cancer stories are the same. Each individual, family, community and country experiences cancer differently. While the disease carries a single name “cancer”, its impact is uniquely personal.

United by Unique reminds us that effective cancer care must be collective in purpose. It urges health systems, laboratories, researchers and communities to prioritize cancer patients while working together toward one shared goal: reducing cancer risk, lowering the cancer burden and saving lives.

A Call for Hope, Awareness, Early Detection and Action

Those who have not been directly diagnosed might have been affected through loved ones, news / stories, communities or the silent emotional toll cancer leaves behind. In this shared reality, we are united by the ambition to see cancer detected early, treated effectively and prevented.
