The GeneLab Bioscience Research Scientist Selected for the 2026 Hands-On Training for Downstream Process in Cell-based Vaccine Manufacturing in South Korea.

Organised by the Seoul National University Biopharm Training Center. The programme targets 20 participants with a maximum of three participants selected from each country.

In line with our commitment to continuous improvement and professional development, Mr. Idris Ganiu, a Research Scientist at The GeneLab Bioscience was selected at the 2026 Hands-on Training for Downstream Process in Cell-Based Vaccine Manufacturing.

We are proud to have a member of our scientific team selected to participate in this international capacity-building initiative. This opportunity supports his professional development and strengthens our efforts to enhance technical capabilities in vaccine manufacturing and bioprocessing. It also reflects our ambition to contribute to research, diagnostics and biotechnology innovation across West-Africa.

WHO Biomanufacturing Workforce Training Initiative.

The Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing (GTH-B) was established by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea to strengthen global biomanufacturing capacity, with emphasis on supporting low and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Across many LMICs, access to vaccines and other biological products remains unequal. Although countries are working to establish local manufacturing capabilities through technology transfer, research, development and international partnerships, one major challenge persists: the shortage of a sufficiently trained and skilled workforce.

Developing biomanufacturing capacity requires more than modern facilities and sophisticated equipment. It requires professionals with the technical expertise to manage complex production processes, apply appropriate analytical techniques and maintain the quality and safety of biological products.

The GTH-B initiative addresses this challenge by providing specialised training that equips professionals with practical competencies to support their countries’ biopharmaceutical ambitions. By investing in workforce development, the initiative helps build knowledge and technical expertise that can contribute to stronger health systems and more resilient vaccine manufacturing capacity.

Building Practical Expertise in Vaccine Manufacturing.

The programme is scheduled to take place at the Siheung Global Biocampus Siheung, South Korea and is structured into two phases: a three-week pre-online course from 28 September to 17 October 2026, followed by four weeks of in-person training from 19 October to 14 November 2026.

The training involves downstream processing, an important stage in cell-based vaccine manufacturing that involves recovering, separating and purifying biological materials to achieve the quality required for use. Through practical instruction and exposure to relevant manufacturing and analytical techniques, participants will strengthen their understanding of the processes that underpin modern biopharmaceutical production.

Such hands-on, industry-focused training helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing individuals to contribute more effectively to the development and operation of biomanufacturing capabilities.

Strengthening Our Team, Advancing Our Mission.

At The GeneLab Bioscience, one of our commitments is improvement. We understand that sustainable growth begins with people. Every opportunity to learn, improve and acquire new expertise strengthens our ability to innovate and deliver meaningful scientific solutions.

The knowledge and skills acquired through this participation will support our efforts to expand our research, diagnostic and biotechnology services in West-Africa. Our goal is not simply to participate in global programmes but to translate the value of these opportunities into lasting institutional growth.

We are all about integrity, innovation, consistency, quality and improvement. Improvement in knowledge. Improvement in technical expertise. Improvement in our team. Improvement in our services. And ultimately, improvement in our building-capacity to contribute to a healthier, more innovative future for West-Africa.
