Favour Olagookun

Asst. Research Scientist

I am a biomedical researcher with a background in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and a growing specialization in bioinformatics epidemiology, Biostatistics, and genomics.. I explore host–pathogen interactions, microbial evolution, and the molecular mechanisms that drive infectious and complex diseases.

I currently work as an Assistant Research Scientist and Technical Sales Specialist in the Oligonucleotide Division at The GeneLab Bioscience. In this role, I bridge science and strategy by supporting researchers with high-quality oligonucleotide solutions while contributing to laboratory research and technical innovation. I work at the intersection of molecular biology and applied genomics, helping translate complex experimental needs into practical, research-driven solutions.

I am currently pursuing my MSc in Biochemistry at the University of Lagos, and my interest span oncology, infectious diseases, immunogenomics, and precision medicine. I focus on translating genomic data into actionable insights that strengthen disease surveillance, therapeutic development, and public health impact.

As I grow in my career, I aim to deepen my expertise in cancer genomics, pathogen evolution, and AI-driven drug discovery. I also aspire to contribute to building stronger genomic research capacity in under-resourced settings and to advancing the representation of women in computational life sciences.

I build my work around one guiding belief: when we decode biological information with clarity and purpose, we move closer to solving some of the most urgent health challenges of our time.
